Water levels on the Rhine have fallen to new lows as a prolonged heatwave continues to grip Europe, creating challenges for cruise operators, shipping and travelers alike.
The situation is particularly concerning around Kaub, one of the Rhine’s key low-water chokepoints.
Reuters reported on Friday that the river has reached record-low levels, with the navigable water depth at the Kaub chokepoint falling to 10 centimeters.
